California - part 3 - Stinson Beach

On Monday, June 20 (Roman's actual birthday, not all the other days that we celebrated over the last month) we went to Stinson beach with Spencer's dad and step-mom, Kristin, his Aunt Cathy and Uncle Bob and his cousin Katie and her son Ethan. We dropped Spencer off with his Dad and Kristin at the top of a hike called Steep Ravine so they could hike the 3 1/2 miles down to the beach. It's a lush hike over fallen logs, down ladders, one that we have enjoyed many times.

I drove down to the beach to meet Cathy, Bob and Katie with Roman and Hudson. Roman, Hudson and I were at the beach alone for about an hour. We had a picnic at the beach and Hudson had fun playing with the sand. Roman couldn't wait to get into the water.

Roman had fun playing in the sand with Ethan. He had lots of fun sand toys.

Hudson LOVED the sand, he did not enjoy going out in the water. He would cry anytime we took him into the ocean.

Cathy and Bob bought Roman a Lightening McQueen kite to fly on the beach. Cathy helped him fly it. The winds were perfect that day and the kite went right up with little effort.

A friend that lives in California gave Roman a boogie board to take to the beach. He talked about going boogie boarding all weekend. The tide was in while we were there so it was perfect for boogie boarding. I took him out in the water to show him how to do it. Roman wasn't sure he wanted to be in the water on his stomach. He was nervous about it. He went once, but didn't want to go again.

Stinson Beach is usually cool and it's not unusual to have fog drifting over the hills even in June. It was a pleasantly perfect day at the beach. The weather was warm, the water was wonderful, the sand was fun. The boys loved the beach.
