Hudson Said...

Hudson - Did you go to Summit Academy when you were my size?
Me - No, it wasn't even built yet. And I didn't live here. I lived with grandma and papa.
Hudson - Then where did you go to school?
Me - At someone's house.
Hudson - They didn't even make schools when you were my size?? (Said in shock)...
Me - They did, but I went to preschool at a house.
Hudson - Did they make cars then?
Me - Yes! I'm not THAT old!
Hudson - Oh. (Thinks for a minute) So you had cars, but no schools.

Cursive - 4 year old style

At the charter school that Roman goes to, they begin teaching cursive in Kindergarten.  Hudson always wants to do everything Roman is doing.  One day Roman was doing his Cursive homework and Hudson brought me this paper and said "look mom, I wrote 'mom' in cursive."

I called my sister, Marla, that afternoon and asked her if she could bring me home some beginning cursive pages so that Hudson could do cursive homework with Roman.   He thought it was so fun.  And, it's actually easier for him because he begins his letters at the bottom of the line anyway.

Hudson Said...

Me - Hudson should we get strawberry or brown sugar pop tarts?
Hudson - Brown sugar, because it's like me.
Me - How is it like you?
Hudson - Because I have all these brown sugar spots on my face.

Best Big Brother Award

Best big brother award goes to Roman tonight. Hudson was super tired then a toy broke. 15 minutes of crying and he would not go to sleep. Roman went in and is snuggling in his bed with him.

Easter Hats

This year, I didn't get Easter outfits for the boys.  Instead I made them Easter hats.  I let the boys choose their fabric.  I wasn't really sure about the stripes that Roman chose, but I think it turned out very cool!  Hudson LOVES his hat and wears it a lot, but he prefers to wear it backwards.

Took roman half an hour to get ready to go to the park, but he was extremely pleased with his look. He's going to be the boy that takes longer to get ready for a date than most girls I just know it.

Forever - No matter what

As I was cleaning the kitchen today I found this note.

If you can't read it, it says:

Dear Hudson,

Thank you so much for the picture!  Spider-man is really cool.  I love you, Hudson.  Forever no matter what!

Don't know the words? Doesn't matter!

This morning Hudson was singing at the top of his lungs. I think he got maybe 3 words right in the whole song, but that didn't stop him. He just kept singing!

God Bless the USA

Hudson loves to sing, and if he doesn't know the exact words...that doesn't stop him.  He just wings it.

Here's Hudson's version of God Bless the USA

I'm proud to be an American when at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the man who died who gave that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up, next to you, and bend her fist today.
Let the rain go down, I love this way, God bless the USA.

when I grow up I want to be a monkey swinger. Because then I will only have to wear underwear. No clothes, or socks, or anything. And I'll swing from the binds. Even when I go to work at the hospital (because he wants to be a doctor) I'll maybe have to put clothes on. Then when I'm done working I'll take off my doctor clothes and swing into the jungle and say "ah-uh-ah-uh-ahhhh" when I'm talking to animals.

Roman - piano technique

Roman is just so cute counting beats with his head, I had to get a little video of him practicing the other day.

Hudson swimming

Hudson has been taking private swimming lessons for about 6 months now. Spencer always asks how he's doing so I took a few videos this week to show him.

This first video I didn't see Hudson until he was already coming under the bridge and he had already gone quite a distance on his back.  Hudson prefers to swim on his stomach, so this was really good!

This was his final swim into the wall at the end of his lessons and you can tell he's tired.

Roman said

Every night we have to take Roman to the bathroom in the middle of the night,  he pretty much sleeps through it most nights.  Last night I got him up to go to the bathroom and as he was going back to bed he said:

Roman - I'm really excited to go back to sleep, mom.  I know this is going to be a really good book.
Me - What book?
Roman - The one I was about to start before you got me up.

Total book worm!  He even DREAMS about reading books!  :0

Hudson Said...

Hudson - I learn that the little hand on the clock is the hours, and the big hand tells the weeks.
Me - Um, the little hand does tell the hours, but the big hand tells the minutes.
Hudson - Oh, let me rephrase that. If the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 8 it's 8 O'clock.
Me - That's right! It is 8
Hudson - Yeah, 8 OOOOHHHH'clock.

Carb Kid

Me - Hudson what do you want for lunch? (This is a rhetorical question....every day he wants toast and apple sauce, I don't know why I still ask)
Hudson - toast
Me - what do you want with your toast?
Hudson - a roll.
Me - okay, what else?...
Hudson - um, can I have a breadstick?
Me - they are all gone, can you have something that's not bread?
Hudson - um, can I have pirates booty?

I think the problem with my sickness is I swallowed some germs and they are popping all the good stuff in my tummy trying to make me sick.

Me - Roman, you need to get up, it's 7:00.
Roman - You are lying, it's still dark outside.
Me - Remember, I told you about the time change....
Roman - (covers head) you are lying, you just changed all of our clocks because you want me to go to school early.
Me - Believe me, I want to go back to sleep too.
Roman - okay, turn off the lights and we can go back to sleep.
Me - we have to get ready for school.
Roman - why don't you just change the clocks back?
Me - I wish that would work!

Mom, babies are almost as small as a toy. So you can play with them. 2 year olds are almost as small as a toy too.

Hudson - mom, we NEED to go to the dollar store, because we are all out of builder paper.
Me - builder paper? What are you talking about?
Hudson - you know builder paper that we draw tigers and stingrays on.
Me - huh?
Hudson - you know, builder paper. It's red, and yellow, and kind of scratchy....
Me - you mean construction paper?
Hudson - oh yeah, construction paper.

What my 4 year old did today during sacrament meeting.
