On July 3 we had dinner at my parents house and decided to do fireworks that night. We went to my sister, Janeene's house for fireworks.
The kids all had fun sitting on the driveway. They wanted to be as close to the action as possible.
That is all the kids except Roman. He wanted to be as far away as possible. He wasn't taking any chances! He decided the safest place was up on the front porch with Grandma and Papa. It was so funny, at one point he almost had his chair up on the step going into Janeene's house. You know...you can never be too cautious. He didn't want to do any of the sparklers even.
We kept Hudson back by us too. He is our curious child and would have loved to have had (and touched) the sparklers.
By the end of the night Roman did finally venture over to the driveway when they started throwing the little snaps. Roman got a pack and we told him "just throw them on the ground." He looked at us and we again said "Roman, just throw them on the ground." So he looked at the package and threw the whole thing on the ground. It gave a pretty big pop, everyone laughed and we explained ourselves a little better after that.
Marla and Paul loved the new Utah laws allowing Arial fireworks. I think Marla's exact words were that they "Rocked her world." And something about the best 4th of July ever. Our fireworks show was at least an hour long, and I heard Marla and Paul conspiring for bigger and better for the 24th of July.
